Leadership Month Highlights | Oak International School Benin
October 2025 was a remarkable month of leadership, learning, and inspiration at Oak International School Benin. Under the theme “Sparking Leaders Together,” the entire school community engaged in a journey of growth, reflection, and empowerment, learning that true leadership begins with service and purpose.
The month began with the creation of the Oak International Electoral Commission (OEIC), a student-led initiative designed to organize and oversee the school’s prefect elections. The OEIC reflects the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, which OIS Benin embraces: developing responsible, reflective, and active global citizens. Through this process, students practiced integrity, teamwork, and democratic participation; key attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
The Leadership Bootcamps, held for both senior and junior students, offered hands-on opportunities to explore teamwork, communication, and self-awareness. Students learned that leadership is not about authority, it’s about listening, inspiring, and growing together.
To crown the month, Girls’ Week, celebrated alongside the International Day of the Girl Child, highlighted empowerment, confidence, and voice. Distinguished women leaders from various fields visited our school to share their journeys and advice, including:
- Mrs. Laourou Kiki, a renowned jurist;
- Zeynab Habib, a celebrated Beninese artist and advocate for women’s empowerment;
- Professor Sophie Agbidinoukoun, an inspiring academic; and
- Dr. Ganiath Akambi, a respected gynecologist and women’s health advocate.
Their presence reminded our students, especially our girls, that leadership takes many forms, and that every voice, dream, and story matters.
These experiences together made October a living example of OIS Benin’s mission: to raise global leaders who are compassionate, confident, and ready to make a difference.
